How to Dream / Unpublished
Script
How to Dream is a short illustrated poem in a form of 2 expandable concertina books. The first is a picture book, while the second volume is an activity book, inviting the reader to create his own illustrations.
In How to Dream, a dream is not something distant and unreacheable you can only wish upon. As a poetic step by step guide, it’s purpose is to inspire courage in setting individual goals and making dreams come true. In short, to provoke imagination to make the impossible - possible, in the reader’s own, individual way. Inspired by the path of an artist invites to become one, learning values that assist art making: Imagination, Courage, Inclusivity, Freedom and Open-mindedness. The artistic value of illustrations and poetry is to stimulate a child's sensitivity.
The first volume consists of 5 illustrations and text excerpts that can be read from bottom to top, and unfolded to form one progressive image. The vertical form of the book expands into a poster that can fit in any child’s room, creating a fun decorative element with educational clues.
The following volume, a black and white activity book, resigns from color, some characters and parts of the narrative, leaving space for the reader to interpret and fill it with their own imagination. It encourages one to create one’s own version of How to Dream. The potential in the activity book is that it will ‘grow’ in illustrations co-created by readers as an ‘open to be finished’ art form. This book can be enjoyed by children and adults, to spend time, read and spark discussion.
